Brig. Gen. Dan Cherry, USAF (ret.) volunteered for combat duty in 1966 and 1971, flying over 295 missions, most of them over North Vietnam. On one of those missions in April 1972, Cherry shot down the plane of a Vietnamese aviator, Nguyen Hong My. Cherry always wondered what happened to the pilot he shot down, and recently was given the chance to meet him. Cherry and Hong My met face-to-face in Vietnam almost 36 years to the day of Cherry's shooting down Hong My's MiG-21 fighter. The two pilots appeared together on a Vietnamese TV show, toured Ho Chi Minh City, and flew to Hanoi the next day – passing over the same airspace that had once been the scene of their combat.

One of the most promising renewable energy technologies is solar electricity or photovoltaics (PV). These solid-state devices make electricity out of sunlight, silently with no maintenance, pollution and depletion of material.
Kennedy said that interest in the building integration of photovoltaics is growing world-wide. Such integration means the PV elements become part of the building itself, often serving as the exterior weathering skin.
Strong will present a world overview of building-integrated PV activity including a description of component and systems development with many built examples of solar electric architecture from the United States, Europe and Japan.

In physics, the space surrounding an electric charge or in the presence of a time-varying magnetic field has a property called an electric field (that can also be equated to electric flux density). This electric field exerts a force on other electrically charged objects. The concept of an electric field was introduced by Michael Faraday.
The electric field is a vector field with SI units of newtons per coulomb (N C−1) or, equivalently, volts per metre (V m−1). The SI base units of the electric field are kg•m•s-3•A-1. The strength of the field at a given point is defined as the force that would be exerted on a positive test charge of +1 coulomb placed at that point; the direction of the field is given by the direction of that force. Electric fields contain electrical energy with energy density proportional to the square of the field intensity. The electric field is to charge as gravitational acceleration is to mass and force density is to volume.
